I have completed my first year, studying for a BSc (Hons) in Digital Media. The degree encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including Digital Film and Technologies, Scripting and Interactive Web, Web Engineering and Design and Sound for Moving Image. My unit average for year one was 79%.
Since the advent of home computing in the early 80’s, I have had a passion for technology, more especially computer graphics, animation, music and sound effect design. Back then, I could only have dreamed that one day there would be a university degree in such technologies.
After many long nights tapping away on keyboard membranes, and then moving on to rubber keyboards and finally the plastic ones, I landed my first job as a graphic artist, working for a local video game development company. It was there that I started to build my experience and career in the video game industry.
This led on to working for a much larger software development house, where I became a lead artist and then moved in to project management, first as a producer and then the senior producer for the company until 1996.
From there and with the birth of the world wide web, I co-founded a limited company specialising in web design and software development. I was co-director until 2011.
Since then I have been a freelance web designer and am in my final year studying for a BSc. in Digital Media at the University of Portsmouth.
